There was something formless and perfect
before the universe was born.
It is serene. Empty.
Solitary. Unchanging.
Infinite. Eternally present.
It is the mother of the universe.
For lack of a better name,
I call it the Tao.
It flows through all things,
inside and outside, and returns
to the origin of all things.
~Lao Tzu
We are a part of the endless flowing energy of the Tao. It connects us all. And its flow can heal us.
Bodies spontaneously heal whenever we coax diseased, hurting, injured tissues back into a flowing state – a state where body and mind can dance and flow with the Tao or Source again.
Flow Dance
If you could take a microscope and peer into your own body, you would discover that you are vibrating. Your body is constantly flowing and vibrating at the atomic level. You are actually made from billions of tiny elemental forms dancing and oscillating in space.
You may remember from science class that each type of atom, from hydrogen to iodine has a signature vibration. This means that each type of tissue within your beautiful body has its own unique vibrational pattern as well: lung tissue vibrates in a distinct way. And the vibrational dance of liver is also unique. Bone vibration is different from nerve or brain vibration. And blood and lymph each create a unique dance of their own. Each tissue has its own dance.
“Energy moves in waves. Waves move in patterns. Patterns move in rhythms. A human being is just that: energy, waves, patterns, rhythms. Nothing more. Nothing less. A dance”
~Gabrielle Roth ”
When your body is hurt, diseased or traumatized, its vibrational dance shifts into an out of balance, distressed state. And the same thing happens in an unhealthy mind, or a grieving heart. When your elemental flow is stifled or becomes imbalanced, disease, distress and discomfort will eventually manifest in your tissues. ALL healing involves restoring elemental flow so that balance can return to the atomic dance of your tissues.. The ultimate goal of every single healing therapy is to coax your diseased, hurting, injured tissues back into a balanced vibratory state where body and mind flow and dance in the Tao once more.
Elements of Flow
“Be humble, for you are made of earth.
Be noble, for you are made of stars.”
~Serbian proverb
Find one object in your house or yard that is made up of something other than earth, air, fire or water. Go ahead and look around – I dare you! Your computer? Your refrigerator? no, they are both made of Metal and minerals from the earth and plastics (petroleum product; decaying plant and animal matter put under pressure for eons).
What is your own body made of? About 67% of your human form is actually water. And then there is the earthy part of you; your bones are created from earthy minerals like calcium and phosphorous. Your lungs and blood exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide in every moment – this is elemental air providing the fuel that your tissues require. And within you brain and spine, nerves fire to stimulate the movement of your muscles and the passing of your thoughts. Your body could not exist without earth, air, fire and water.
Your body needs food to survive. But what exactly is food? Minerals, vitamins, proteins, fats and carbohydrates that have been pulled out of the earth into plant or animal tissues. And don’t forget the liquid water you drink and the air you breathe to stay alive and healthy. Plus, digestive fire is used to break down all that food and transform it in a usable form that your cells can use. EVERYTHING you eat, drink and breath is either earth, fire, air or water!
The Space That Animates
Beyond the body structures and fluids created from earth, air, fire and water is the mysterious element of Akasha or Spirit; the magical emptiness. Within us and all around us lies the formless Space where the energy of love flows unbound and unstructured. The potency of every possibility waits for us within this magical Space; divine Spirit flows within this Space – the true source energy for all healing and creativity. Soul Flow is my name for the energy of Spirit flowing within the Space of you.
