The Dream Architects
This treastise will present various interpretations of the dream state and dream travelling. Please be open-minded and see if and what resonates with your mind and/or higher self.
“Even though dreams refer to a definite attitude of consciousness and a definite psychic situation, their roots lie deep in the unfathomably dark recesses of the conscious mind. For want of a more descriptive term we call this unknown background the unconscious. We do not know its nature in and for itself, but we observe certain effects from those whose qualities we venture certain conclusions in regard to the nature of the unconscious psyche. Because dreams are the most common and most normal expression of the unconscious psyche, they provide the bulk of the material for its investigation.” - Carl G. Jung, “On The Nature of Dreams”
The study of dreams and their interpretation is rooted in antiquity. Historic and archeological evidence shows us that many of the great Earth cultures of the past such as those of Greece, Egypt, India and China relied heavily upon dream interpretation for proper diagnosis of physical illness of the dreamer. All of these cultures in one way or another also believed strongly in the esoteric nature and the potential of dreams with regards to prophecy of future events.
Contemporary societies owe a debt of thanks to the scholars and physicians of Ancient Persia who kept and safe guarded written records of dream analysis along with the oldest records of astrology and numerology and other arcane secrets keeping them safe for mankind when the winds of time shifted and the “old ways” were banished or destroyed in other parts of the world. Among the scholarly hierarchy, was the Arab physician Ibn Sirin who lived in the Eighth Century BC and is credited with scribing the first treatise on dreams. His writings served as a basis and guideline for the extended growth and further research into the importance of dreams.
In these contemporary times, dream symbolism has taken on a more psychological view which also tends to be the currently accepted world view. Nearly everyone today is familiar with the psycho-analytical work of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung who basically both believed that dreams had their own language and logic based in the unconscious. Their personally approaches to dream analysis is where the psychological camp became divided with Freud an advocate of ‘contra-desire’ and free association symbolism and Jung who believed in ‘sticking with the images’ and their connection to the Universal Archetype only as they pertained exclusively to the life and experience of the individual.
There are all sorts of “Dream Books” on the market today ranging from serious psychological texts to the more esoteric brands. The psychological spin on the subject often lists common dreams and their possible ‘conscious time’ connections and meanings. For example, a dream of flying by one’s own volition is a very common dream as is being naked in public or falling.
THE KEY TO THE REALM...
Despite all the modern advances made regarding dream imagery, most scientists will concede that the current world view allows for a good percentage of dreams to be relegated over to the Arcanus. The great seer and ‘Sleeping Prophet’ Edgar Cayce believed that, “Dreams provide important information for the dreamer who pays close attention and learns to interpret their meaning… Dreams may be the correlation of any or all subconscious direction, capable of using physical facilities and the cosmic and spiritual and superconscious forces all in action.”
What would the ancients have said about dreams of flying, being naked or falling? Flying would be considered an obstacle dream surrounding ambitious plans that the dreamer was probably not equipped to accomplish in the waking state. Being naked in public was actually considered a fortunate dream for those who were married for it signified great happiness. For others it served as a warning to pay attention to one’s own conduct because trouble would come of one’s own making. Falling was never a good portent among the ancients unless the dreamer fell and then rose again which meant that he would overcome great struggles and come into honor. According to the ancients the further and longer one fell in a dream, the greater his waking life troubles and losses.
BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR...
Is a subconscious wish also a conscious wish? There is a subconscious wish at work that prompts a dream and it will repeat over and over again in different dreams until it is recognized. It is true that dream analysis can help us find out what is going on in the subconscious mind but the true goal is to use this information in our waking lives to achieve our conscious ideals and aspirations. Most psychologists place great emphasis on repetitive dreams and their meaning.
Discerning and understanding the subconscious wish that prompts a dream can bring it to conscious time fruition and manifestation. Some dreams are resistant to interpretation because they are utterly bizarre or too vague. It is best not to waste time on dreams of this sort because they only offer disjointed fragments. Any important wish message will come through in other dreams until it is recognized. Once the wish is known, one merely needs to decide if such a manifestation is appropriate to personal growth and happiness and if there are any blocks within the self or from the external forces of nature to prevent realization. Not all wishes are consciously appropriate or morally acceptable in the waking world and in this case it may become necessary to offer the subconscious a conscious wish as a substitute that can be realized. How will you know if you have analyzed the subconscious wish correctly? It will feel familiar… after all it has just been sitting there in your collective subconscious waiting for you to recognize it.
ARE YOU DREAMING OR ASTRAL TRAVELING?
Many esotericists believe that each night the human spirit or soul leaves the body to travel to the Astral Plane where it meets with other souls to perform certain tasks or jobs pertaining to personal evolution. Some individuals remember traveling to distant places and flying about freely from place to place in their dreams. Still others believe they have gone back in time to past lives or have been visited in their dreams by an angel, spirit or deceased loved one. What is going on here? No one can really offer a cut and dried bona fide backed up by indisputable proof answer for any of these experiences… it all depends upon one’s personal belief system. Most often all of these experiences are remembered with great clarity and tend to be very consistent in nature of theme.
CAN DREAMS BE PROPHETIC?
There certainly have been enough examples of them filling books, magazines and the internet. Many of these dreams are famous such as Calpurnia’s dream of the death of her husband Julius Caesar, President Abraham Lincoln’s dream of his own assassination, and the numerous prophetic dream passages in the Bible to name a few. Even the lesser known cases are startling attention grabbers. For example, there have been ten documented cases of precognition related to the sinking of the Titanic eight of which were dreams. Some of the most hard core scientists allow for a percentage of unexplainable ‘warning dreams.’ The ancients definitely believed in prophetic dreams but only those that followed a certain formula were accepted as truly prophetic.
The ancients believed that prophetic dreams only occurred in the middle of the night between 3:00 – 7:00 am. They believed that during these hours the body was in a good state of health, digestion was complete and the body was filtered of toxins by the liver. The mind was calm and the psychic faculties open to accept esoteric information during these hours.
Today, esoteric dream analysts believe that a dream is not prophetic if:
- It occurs during the first hours of sleep when the dreamer is experiencing digestion and physical system cleanse.
- The dreamer has taken extended release night time medications.
- The dreamer is ill and/or feverish.
- The dream content revolves around something that has made an emotional or psychological impression during the waking hours such as a conversation, TV or internet program, reading or observation.
- The dreamer is sleeping in an odd or unnatural position such as sitting upright in a chair.
These conditions also lie at the root of ‘theme-less’ or fragmented dreams which are nothing more than nonsensical and unproductive.
THE DREAM PALETTE
Do you dream in vivid colors and textured hues? Did you ever wonder if these colors had a special meaning of their own? According to the ancients they do indeed. Generally speaking the ancients shunned all dark and black shades considering them as bad omens. Normal colors mixed with black also took on an ominous meaning contrary to when the color stood alone. Light and pastel shades were always preferred as they indicated glad and happy tidings. The ancients also considered some color combinations fortuitous such as blue and purple which represented the ultimate in good fortune, prosperity through others, and a happy love life. A yellow and orange combination indicated neutrality and no important life changes or business affairs for a long period of time. The brightness and/or shade of a color also had meaning. For example, red was considered a warning color indicating quarrels and loss of friendship however, crimson was considered lucky indicating unexpected good news. White was considered the most favorable hue concerning all life affairs.
PALETTE SAMPLER
Bright Reds – strong and binding love
Light Reds such as Pink - affection
Dark Reds – passion bordering on violence
Red and Black – hatred and vehemence
Orange – happiness
Dark Yellows – lowly desires
Light Yellows – material and resource ease
Dark Greens – evil and threats
Light Greens – serenity
Dark Blues – domination
Navy Blue – prosperity through others
Indigo Blue – beneficence
Light Blues – purity
Azure Blue - promotion
Light Purples – wisdom
Mauve – unhappiness
Warm or Bright Purples – power
Deep Purples – sorrow
Purple and Black – treason and intrigue
Browns – danger and melancholy
Black – death and mourning
White – joy
Textured White – good omens
Dreams of metallic colors such as Gold and Silver were considered fortunate in business and life dealings. Shades of Gray dealt with communication issues and were thought to indicate news via letter and by today’s standards this would include email. Color blends or mixes were thought to designate problems in friendship or untrue or false friends.
Pay attention to the colors of your dream because they add meaning to the dream theme.
WHO ARE THE DREAM ARCHITECTS?
The Dream Architects are the ARCHETYPAL spirits of the Night Realm and the Twilight Recesses of the Collective who guide the nature and necessity of all dreams. They bear no harm to the dreamer. Their intent is to bring realization and release from internal fears which may be blocking the dreamer from success in the hours of wakefulness.
JIHIIAN ... THE ARCHITECT OF PROPHETIC DREAMS
Jiiahnn (pronounced gee-on) governs Prophetic Dreams which are the only dreams connected to the DIVINE. In the Prophetic Dream, the dreamer is allowed to see or view a future event or happening of a personal nature or on a larger worldly scale. These dreams are generally clear by intent with no fragmentation, often of a very short duration and easily remembered by the dreamer. Some researchers believe telepathy is involved and often the psychic senses or presentiments are involved. On occasion, the appearance of a symbol may serve as the tool of foreboding. The symbol will be consistent - for example, a highly intuitive or psychic individual whose rare dream of a tidal wave will present itself before a community or worldly disaster or crisis of major magnitude. The real time disaster might have nothing to do with water but the symbol of destruction, the tidal wave dream prior to an actual event is the personal avenue of information for the individual.
Another example on a lesser scale was a personal dream of mine where the only visual shown was a hypodermic needle containing a brownish (danger) liquid and a clairaudient message which stated, “Nicholas is in trouble.” This was a disturbing dream which prompted me to contact the individual and relay the dream message. I knew the individual was not a drug user but had an uneasy feeling that the dream message was a health warning. My call found Nicholas in good health but it did not surprise me when I heard from him a week later and he told me that several days after my call he ended up in the hospital with a very dangerous form of food poisoning. His words were, “I have never been this sick in my entire life!” Motivated by my Prophetic Dream, he had luckily driven himself to the hospital as soon as the symptoms started. Early detection probably saved his life.
Future crisis events on a worldly scale would be impossible for a single individual to change except to take the self out of harm’s way if possible but, any foreboding of a personal nature need not play out at all and often does not because the individual has used willpower on some level to arrest manifestation such as in the case of the dream about Nicholas.
Sometimes the ‘symbol’ of a Prophetic Dream comes in the form of a person (sometimes deceased) or a spiritual entity such as an angel or guide who gives the dreamer a clear and direct message. Such was the case of a young man who while recovering from an accident in the hospital fell asleep with a trouble laden mind about how he was going to pay for his mounting hospital bills since he had no insurance. In his dream, his father who had died a year earlier came to him and gave him several numbers with instructions to play the lottery. The young man clearly remembered the numbers and wrote them down upon waking. The young man was not a gambler and had never played the lottery but after leaving the hospital decided he had nothing to lose. He did in fact win the lottery from his dream numbers and was able to pay his debts with money to spare.
It is not common for the Dream Architect Jiiahnn to make his presence felt. He brings the Prophetic Dream as an act of intervention stimulus.
RHYLL THE ARCHITECT OF NORMAL AND LUCID DREAMS
Rhyll (pronounced Rĭll) governs the Normal Dream State and Lucid Dreams also called Conscious Dreams which are controlled dreams. Where you ever aware that in the middle of a dream you were dreaming? Individual opinion varies regarding Lucid Dreams and some people like being in the driver’s seat while others feel that it is an abnormal state and are uncomfortable with it when it occurs. Lucid Dreams are in fact very normal and offer the dreamer an avenue to control their actions within the dream state. An individual with basic knowledge of dreams can readily use a Lucid Dream to get answers about the subconscious dream wish or to simply have some fun doing whatever they please in the dream which acts as a release from waking hour life stresses. Lucid Dreaming is also a great aid for dream recall when it is important to the dreamer. In some cases an individual can train themselves to wake up and write down dream information on a handy bedside notepad and then go back to sleep and re-enter the dream where it left off.
Such is the case of a middle aged woman who had been happily married for many years who dreamt of her high school beau. In reality, they had achieved closure to a tempestuous yet undeniably close relationship of youth and each had gone their separate ways. The woman had no regret over the break-up because she recognized traits in the young man that would not make him a worthy candidate for her affections. She had in fact been known to express vocally that she was glad she never ended up with him.
In the dream she and the beau had picked up where they left off in the past and were planning to get married. The woman always kept a notepad by her bedside and had also trained herself to wake up to record dream information. The woman had also learned from experience that when her deceased mother appeared in a dream that she needed to pay attention to the dream as her mother often appeared as a silent indicator of something important. The one thing that she picked up on immediately from the onset of the dream was a change in the demeanor of the beau who was calm, collected and caring – traits he rarely expressed since he suffered from issues surrounding abuse at home. This led the woman to believe the dream was laced with insincerity or phoniness. Something was hidden.
When the dream became Lucid, the woman woke herself up in a cognizant attempt to record the time which was 3:10 am. She recognized this as dream propensity for a Prophetic Dream so she re-engaged the dream and took control by asking the beau questions of why he had appeared in her dream after so many years and if there was something he needed to tell her. There was no answer forthcoming so the woman dispensed with the dream.
Having a good deal of knowledge about the psychology of dreams, the next day the woman began to draw different correlations to the beau. She felt the dream was prophetic in some way even though there was no message from the beau or her mother. She thought about his general personality traits which she remembered very well and thought about whether any of these traits applied to any of her current friendships or relationships but could not come up with any viable conclusions. A few days later, the woman’s niece phoned her quite upset about a recent break up with her boyfriend who by personality description fit the profile of the woman’s old beau. The young man had been cheating on the niece and covering up his relationship with her to others. The woman had no problem telling her niece that she was better off without the boyfriend as it probably would not have come to a good end. The dream had equipped her with good advice.
Dream therapists find the Lucid Dream invaluable in helping people overcome repetitive night frights or nightmares because the dreamer enters a state where he or she is control of all the scary elements of such dreams.
NOCHTOS - THE ARCHITECT OF NIGHTMARES
Nochtos (pronounced Knock – Toes) governs Nightmares. Just as dreams are rooted in a subconscious wish, nightmares are rooted in a subconscious fear that the individual cannot deal with in the waking hours. The fear may be generated from a current life event or from an event from the past that has left an indelible mark on the psyche. Night Terrors are very serious disorder and are often described as episodes of extreme terror and anxiety. They usually occur early during the sleep cycle and there is difficulty arousing the dreamer who will often act out vocally by screaming and thrashing. Once aroused the dreamer is often in a state of confusion. Night Terrors can be associated with serious psychiatric disorders or substance abuse which requires competent medical attention. Certain cases of Night Terrors are investigated by paranormal experts for etheric or energetic attack and are also very serious in nature.
Nightmares can take on many scenarios that don’t necessarily include monstrosities and evil. They can include scenes of the devastation of war and fighting, death, inextricable settings, inability of escape such as drowning, or twisted deformities of a person, place or thing etc. All Nightmares have one thing in common – they are peculiarly disturbing.
Nightmares often don’t follow any kind of time sequence unless they are re-occurring. In fact some individuals have actually reported ‘backward dreaming’ where everyone and everything in the dream functions in backward motion. For example, a woman dreamt that she saw some men walking backwards carrying a coffin. One of the men said, “Burnt be to enough good woods any.” Upon waking, she wrote down the words but reversed them which read, “Any woods good enough to be burnt.”
Epidemic Nightmares have gone through many phases over the centuries. In the Middle Ages, horrifying night visits by overpowering sexual nocturnal demons known as incubi and succubi who engaged unwanted intercourse and carnal pleasures with men and women was a major challenge to the Church. Modern dream psychology equates this time with sexual repression and the subconscious wish to be free of the rules of the Church coupled with the subconscious fear of challenging the Church’s authority and being condemned for it. Today, issues of Alien Abduction come to the fore and while some mainstream psychologists feel that the aliens represent overpowering parent or authority figures that the dreamer fears and wishes to be freed from, there are some who believe that nightmares following contact or abduction are the dreamer’s way of trying to cope with the recall of the experience.
Everyone experiences a nightmare now and then. If a nightmare is particularly disturbing you can decrease its effect or the propensity for other nightmares by re-empowering yourself on a conscious level. This is achieved by putting yourself in a relaxed state and writing the nightmare down as you remember it and then changing it according to your own dictates. Let the new version play through your mind briefly for no more than 5-10 minutes for a few days. Note the results.
The Realm of the Divine ...
There are many who believe that we are what we dream and that dreams hold Divine Wisdom that can be garnered as we dream travel on the various planes. This is purely spiritual perspective based on Higher Truth.
The Physical Plane is where we all stand. Here is where we start. Reincarnation and Karma come into play on the Physical Plane and it is the school yard and Divine education system of all. Many people complain about how diffiicult this plane is however, those who espouse spiritual truth know it is an honor to be here.
"The Soul is here for its own joy!" ~ RUMI
The Astral Plane is the higher side of the Physical Plane. When we travel here we become archtiects of design and creation. It can be a playground or a challenge if we travel to the lower Astral regions. Nightmares can and do occur here depending upon one's state of self discipline.
The Causal Plane is the source of memories or as many call the Hall of Records. Here the dream traveler. if spiritually prepared can get assitance from the Dream Master, the Mahanta and request to view records of his/her past..
The Mental Plane hold more purity of light than the cosmic regions below it. Here is said to reside Souls and their base of operations. Inhabitants and vistors of this plane are believed to espouse high mental development, ethics, love, wisdom and spiritual power.
The Etheric Plane is believed by some to be part of the higher Mental Plane and is the plane of intuition and the source of the unconscious mind. The etheric mind serves to protect the human mind from shocks such as those inherent in the process of reincarnation. This can get tricky because often awareness of past deeds, particularly those that are uncomfortable will often help an individual move forward spiritually once they have been recognized, accepted and resolved.
The Soul Plane is the plane of Self-Realization. Here is the state of consciousness that is the highest form conducive to clarity of life purpose.
Theosophy, the Seven Rays and Dreams ...
In the esoteric theosophy of the 7 RAYS, it is believed that during the hours of sleep the Soul exits the physical body and travels to the Astral Plane where it engages in a special brand of work that is correlated with an individual's personal plan of spiritual evolution. It remains attached to the body by a silver chord governed by the planet Neptune so that it can return safely once the "Soul Work" has been completed. Very few individuals will remember the experience of working on the Astral Plane and those who do may simply remember any incidence as simply a strange dream underscored by strong feelings of dedication connected to the theme of the dream. According to 7 RAYS theosophy, work on the Astral Plane is conducted in compliance with a specific Ray and the assignment of that Ray. The following chart can be used to calculate that specific Astral Ray. Simply look up your birth time to find the Astral Ray. The chart is set for E.T. (Eastern Time) zone. If you live in a different time zone you must adjust the time to E.S.T. For C.T. add 1 hour, M.T. add 2 hours, P.T. add 3 hours, YT add 4 hours, AHT add 5 hours.
Ray1
This is the Ray of the Magistrate and on the Astral Plane spiritual work includes a position of leadership complete with fortitude, strength and authority. Responsibilities include giving or receiving direction according to Divine Will as well as planning and decision making. The ability to be resolute and self governing is the test for the Soul. Dream themes or Astral travel can include "being the boss" such as holding a leadership position in war or battle or as a political guru who is holding the strings of power or as an expert or pioneer in an unearthly field of endeavor and discovery.
Ray 2
Ray 3
This is the Ray of abstract understanding, idea conception and problem solving. Working through this Ray the underlying principles of the Universe are understood and taught and "handed down" to others in order that the information become eternal. Respect is paid to "interpretation" of Divine thought and both older and younger Souls focus attention on the "word." The ability to teach or learn varied subjects and their application is the assignment of the influence of this Ray. Tact and diplomacy of communication and mastering the art of contemplation are the tests for the Soul working under this Astral Ray. Dream themes or Astral travel are often filled with ancient concepts and places where the individual is shown the wisdom of lost cultures whose traces will never be found upon the Earth. Themes with philosophic overtones or meetings with Ascended Masters or other inter-dimensional light beings also can occur.
Ray 4
This is the Ray of the creative genius who uses intuition as the pivotal force for artistic expression. The influence of the Moon is strongly felt through this Ray as hidden forces are captured and manifested in creative projects or expressions usually through accumulated past memories. The work on the Astral plane consists of giving or receiving instruction in craftsmanship and cultural enlightenment. The Soul is tested for its capability for balance and creating harmony and beauty from chaos and that which is base by nature. Dream themes or Astral travel often consist of acting or singing on the stage or in movies, building great and unusual designs of architecture and remembering past lives and the people associated with them.
Ray 5
This is the Ray of the scientist, analyst and researcher. The goal is always to ascertain the TRUTH and to teach or to learn Divine Law. Earthbound medical breakthroughs can manifest in real time if memories of Astral work can be remembered upon waking. Deductive reasoning at the highest level is used to analyze findings and then the answers to many questions are recorded in diaries or books that fill the Collective Library . The Soul is literally a walking encyclopedia of knowledge which is shared and discerned and therein lies the test. Dream themes or Astral travel includes the uncovering of nature's secrets, medical research, judicial situations such as acting as a judge or lawyer or experiencing, seeing or creating Sacred Geometry.
Ray 6
This is the Ray of the idealist, philanthropist and revolutionary. Social responsibility is taught or learned and put into Divine perspective so devotion and loyalty to cause is conducted for the Collective good. Universal reformation and the need to eliminate prejudice and persecution is embraced. The Soul is being tested for waywardness, dedication, tolerance and the balance of objectivity with psychic consciousness. Dream themes or Astral travel can include situations of self sacrifice or acting as a savior OR conversely, situations of glamour or fame. Revelations of a religious or spiritual nature are also common.
Ray 7
This is the Ray of the cosmic magician, perfectionist and ritualist. On the Astral Plane the Soul is teaching or learning about power and how to manifest expertise according to choice. Etheric manipulation is common practice and because of this arcane and occult responsibility is emphasized since both "light" and "dark" influences are involved. The Soul is being tested as an initiate for its sense of "order" with regards to the invisible sides of nature according to strict Divine instruction. Dream themes or Astral travel often include situations surrounding climbing the ladder to success, surviving or controlling storms or other powerful acts of nature, the occult, arcane magick or sexual ritual.
