Using contrast constructively
Without the dark days, how would we appreciate the blessed ones? Without the hard times, how could we recognise the easy times? Without darkness, how would we ever be able to gaze up at the night sky and behold the stars in their magnificence? Simply put, we can't.
The challenging periods in your life, the times you have made choices you know weren't in your integrity, the losses, the heartbreaks, the aches, the pains, the addictions the physical and mental illnesses, everything that's ever been uncomfortable to you is there for a specific reason; the awakening of your consciousness from its slumber state.
"If you don't lose, you can't enjoy victories. You have to accept both things." -Rafael Nadal
Rafael Nadal inspires me a lot, not just how he plays his tennis but in his entire approach to life. Things simply aren't always going to go the way we want them to, and even if they did we wouldn't truly live the life our soul desires as half the time we don't know what's best for ourselves; we often desire things we simply believe we need when we don't.
Meditate, ponder and look back at your life, would you be where you currently are if you weren't prodded by challenges you have faced? Probably not. Maybe you're going through some rough times right now as you read this, but rest assured, this too shall pass my friend, even if it does pass like a kidney stone (lol) it will pass.
Everything that happens to you is valid as it is only in the darkest of your days that you can you behold the light of your soul, know this, understand this, go out and set the world ablaze!
You're loved.
