It is only when you realise there is nothing permanent in your life that you become spiritual. Did you know that reality is screened from you until you are ready to receive it? Stop thinking, observe without judgement and your life will become a series of awakenings.
Who am “I”?
Almost all unhappiness in the world comes from the “I” (It’s all about me). Whenever you think of people as “others” there is a self (you). If there are no others there can be no self. In the absence of self you are all others. Confused? Please read again. The above is no mystery. But it is sometimes difficult to see the obvious.
Are you still thinking and living from an imaginary “I or Me” center? As long as you do that you can never recognize your freedom. You have to leave “yourself” behind. Try not to look at events as being apart from yourself.
“Sudden Awareness” is the immediate appreciation that we are all one. As long as there is an “I” you will suffer. If you are still looking at the world from the “I” standpoint you have not yet become aware.
“I” is only a concept in your mind. That is why all the great spiritual teachers past and present talk about “dis-identification”. When there is no “me” and “them” there is only oneness.
Who Are You? What if You Were Another Person?
Get on a busy train on any given morning. Look carefully at all the people. Who are they? What would it be like to be them? You are them and they are you! You could easily be one of “them”. Walk in their shoes for a while. Imagine how they would look at you.
Awareness
You cannot change something you are not aware of. Think carefully about the words, “Self Awareness”. Awareness lies beyond the reach of your thoughts. That is why you must let go of “thoughts”. In a state of awareness you have no ‘thoughts’. Consciousness is a matter of becoming conscious of that which is already realized, what is all around you.
Money won’t Make you Happy
The possessions you accumulate in this life are meaningless. You are an expression of nature. Nature doesn’t cling to material things. No kind of material trouble can ever affect a spiritual person. Happiness will not come from fame or riches. Look at the rich and famous. Are they happy? We have known this for centuries but we still chase money.
Everything is already inside you. There are no obstacles to your advancement. Obstacles only exist in your mind. You are but a part of the whole. The whole is spirit. Your true nature is reached by letting go of material things. If you want to see “Reality” you must not be materialistic. That would be completely futile if you have understood that nothing is permanent in this life.
Understanding what has been said so far is only an elimination round, which qualifies you for a glimpse at reality.
Understanding is the starting point.
Live in the Present Moment
The present is the only reality. The past and future exist only in your mind. The now-moment alone is real. Happiness is being present “in the present”. In the present you synchronize with everything. Surrender to this moment.
It is not you who pulls on the strings of time. Your mind is a sieve for thoughts to pass in and out of. It is an aimless, wandering mind. Awareness allows you to take control by letting go.
To just let go is one of the hardest things to do, but once you let go, you are free.
Awareness is different from consciousness. Awareness is infinitely superior to consciousness. Being conscious is going with the flow. But “The Flow” can and does lead you anywhere and nowhere. Like flicking through the channels on your TV, you could end up anywhere. You must be conscious and aware.
