Immortality is generally defined as "the ability to live forever; eternal life." It can also be referred to as "remembered or celebrated through all time." Let's see how the second meaning may be possible:
Every human being wishes to become immortal. However, the Nature creates many an impediments in the path to true immortality. Living forever seems virtually impossible in the present scenario. But, don’t lose heart as there are still some possibilities left that can ensure your permanence, though not in your expected lines. If you hope science may come up with an answer to mortality, this is not plausible at least in the immediate future. Therefore, we are actually left with a handful of alternatives to fulfill our goal of living eternally. This article highlights only those few available alternatives to become immortal.
One great way to achieve immortality is by becoming an eminent person. Traditionalists define this as immortality accomplished through heroic acts. If you unfold the history, you’ll come across many instances of heroic immortality by Greeks who were preoccupied with it. They had always brought accolades for them through plenty of gallant acts and war achievements. The names and deeds of former Greek heroes are still recounted by us even after their deaths thousands of years ago. So, you can say to a certain extent that they have become immortal. One has to question how long the names of present crops of celebrities will continue to circulate in our minds like their predecessors.
The next route to immortality passes through your children. It is known that our present genetic information has been inherited from our ancestors by means of billion years of evolutionary cycle. In this sense, all humans are already living eternally in the form of a small part of their lives being on continuity. The evolutionary cycle will continue in the future too and our genetic details will survive the test of time in the form of our children, grandchildren and thereafter. It is thought that your DNA goes on living in the world with more and more children. However, bear in mind that you don’t have to produce your own children to further the existence of your DNA. You can also become immortal by taking care of your near and dear ones and assisting them to bring up their children.
The third alternative to attain immortality is to lead a healthy life. As per the words of a genetic scientist from the Cambridge University, the first individual who had lived for a thousand years is definitely alive nowadays. Though it sounds incredible, many scientists in gerontology and genetics are working hard to make substantial inroads into the comprehension of age and long life in years to come. The lengthier you remain healthy, the closer you become to lead an eternal life. Regular meditation and yoga can bring forth excellent health benefits for people, thereby helping them to live longer.
