Karmic relationships don't last but they serve a purpose and that purpose is growth. That means growth for both people and the beginning of preparedness for the next relationship phase with someone new.

Some people don't recognize that have been or are in a karmic relationship yet there are always little nagging signs that point to the fact that changes need to be made.

• When you meet it is an instant connection. It is often undeniably irresistible.
• You notice patterns repeating, This goes beyond bad habits and can includes things like not being able to let go of facets connected to former relationships.
• Selfish behaviors like refusing to respect normal human boundaries. Only self interests and needs are served.
• Control. The relationship is laced with obsession. Either one of you holds the other in worship and is placed on a pedesal. One of you or both is a button pusher which doesn't help.
• Destined to be. This aspect is very difficult because you feel as though you were meant to be with this person for eternity. Although this is hard to resist the key is to step back and recognize what you are actually learning from it. It can hit you like a ton of bricks.
• Feeling consumed. If you are really paying attention, you start to notice an emotional, physical and mental dependency has either been formed or is starting to form.
• Fear. Unfortunately your partner may bring out your worst fears - Fear of abandonment, fear of commitment, fear of rejection, fear of loss, fear of emotional engulfment. Even more scary - your partner can bring out your Dark Side and what you hide and may not want to come out about yourself.

If and when you get through this part of life, you will be better for it as cliche as that sounds. It doesn't matter if this was not your "forever person" or if you did not get your fairytale. The reality of life with the right person for you is the best prize of all.
