I am Canadian and from what I feel, the US isnt the most liked from the 'outside' - actually when I visited years ago I thought I was going to die the whole time I was there. Maybe it's the case of bad actors playing mean  and even vicious parts,  pushing things away, and stopping good growth from spreading.

Also at times, maybe as a whole, I think the USA is playing the tough love role where it kinda' has to be agressive and  push back so other things aren't pushed around. It is that way in many "states" that's for sure (states meanining mentalities) but, from the people I have met, all have been very wonderful, loving, and unique. Each has had their own struggles in various forms. Struggles are not good and can cause bitterness between people even making others lash out because they themselves hurt too much. So I do wish we all can be free and unburdened and share what we learned and offer what we can to all we meet, if they would only accept it.

Each person I have has met truly been wonderful. It's the "outside eyes", or seeing from another perspective, that false opinions are formed. Strange analogy, for example - the Scorpios I met in life, I kind of needed to get over a 'hump' like walking through their sting/fire/trial for them to not  worry about me, and even I felt better being around them after doing that too. People would seem edgy looking at them but I chose to partake in their water for a moment as a sign of trust and acceptance.

So maybe that is what I felt of USA at the start - even though there are some bad actors sprinkled throughout - I am  happy to know the good people and there are a lot of ya!
